Short-term stay for Kenshi

Active kenshi travelling to Tokyo?

You are welcome to use our altar room for short-term stays and train with us.
No frills but a convenient, central location.

Local kenshi living close by happy to help with questions.

what
We normally use this room for Kongozen religious ceremonies. It holds our altar, Dharma statue etc. - nothing sacred, but we expect it is treated with due respect. When no ceremonies are planned - we only have 4 or 5 throughout the year - it can be converted into a conveniently located stay in central Tokyo, in principle for up to 2 weeks.

The room is small (about 17 square meters in total) but not smaller than basic hotel rooms. Has its own toilet and shower.

Equipment is bare-bones with one queen-size quality air-bed that can be deflated during the day to make room. The altar can be put in storage so the shelf below transforms into a basic table.

You will find a mini-kitchen with a small fridge, pots and pans and plates - probably easier and more exciting to explore the restaurants in the neighborhood.

who
Active kenshi visiting Tokyo who are looking for a short-term stay. Anybody welcome from "minarai" white belt.

Where
2 minutes walk from Yutenji Station on the Toyoko Line - convenient connection to Yamanote Line for central Tokyo and Yokohama:
  • Yutenji Station <5 min> Shibuya Station (Yamanote Line)
  • Yutenji Station <35 min> Yokohama Station
Lots of restaurants, coffee shops, supermarkets, 24/7 convenience stores, coin laundries in the immediate neighborhood.

how
Apologies if the language below is terse, we are super-relaxed but have to apply these two conditions for compliance reasons:
  • All initial inquiries must come from a Branch Master – no exceptions.
  • You are expected to join (or teach!) at least on of our classes at Tokyo Chayazaka during your stay. Warmly welcome to join more!
And please respect that the room and the entire building, including balcony and stairs, is non-smoking. Thank you!
